Leighton B. Welch Founder & Senior Portfolio Manager
Mr. Welch founded Welch Capital in July 1996 and currently serves as President and Senior Portfolio Manager. Previously, he was employed for over five years as a Portfolio Manager with Eagle Capital Management. While at Eagle Capital, Mr. Welch managed over $120 million in assets while providing industry expertise in the healthcare, technology and business services sectors. Prior to his joining Eagle Capital, he worked as an Associate for Boston Ventures, a firm concentrating on management buyouts. Prior to that, Mr. Welch worked as an Analyst for T.A. Associates, a Boston-based venture capital firm, with interests in both private and public technology companies. Mr. Welch holds both an AB and an MBA from Harvard University. [top]


Christopher W. Welch, CFA Senior Portfolio Manager & CCO
Mr. Welch joined Welch Capital in 1997 as a Senior Portfolio Manager and Chief Compliance Officer specializing in the telecommunications, networking and consumer technology sectors. He has over eighteen years of investment experience. Prior to joining Welch Capital, he was a Portfolio Manager with Bankers Trust Investment Management in both New York and Hong Kong specializing in international bonds and equities. Mr. Welch also worked for Smith Barney as an Analyst in their Investment Banking Technology Group and Financial Restructuring Group. Mr. Welch holds both an AB and an MBA from Harvard University

Paul Jozefek, CFA Health Care Analyst
Mr. Jozefek joined Welch Capital in 2002 as an Analyst. Prior to joining Welch Capital, Mr. Jozefek was an Institutional Analytics Intern at CommScan, LLC in New York. Prior to that he was a Verifications Intern at BackTrack Reports, Inc. in New York. Mr. Jozefek holds a BS in Finance and Accounting from New York University, Leonard N. Stern School of Business. Mr. Jozefek was a recipient of the Stern Scholars Award, and is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma. [top]


Ira MosbergController
Prior to joining Welch Capital Partners, LLC, Ira worked at Morgan Stanley as a consultant in their fund administration group. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley in early 2013, Ira worked as a controller in the operations group at Bridger Capital, LLC where he was responsible for the accounting and financial statement preparation of the firm's investment vehicles. Prior to joining Bridger in 2007, he worked as an assistant controller at JWM Partners, LLC where he was responsible for the accounting, tax and financial statement preparation of the firm's investment vehicles. Prior to joining JWM in 2003, he worked at Rothstein, Kass & Company where he spent three years working as an auditor in the financial services group. Ira is a certified public accountant and earned his BSM in accounting from Tulane University in May 1998.

David MacCallum Managing Partner – Outer Islands Capital
David has a long and distinguished career in the healthcare sector holding senior positions in research, investment banking and investment management. David founded Outer Islands Capital, a hedge fund specializing in healthcare investments in 2002. Prior to launching Outer Islands, David was Global Head of Healthcare Investment Banking at Salomon Smith Barney, part of Citigroup. Prior to Salomon, David was Global Head of Healthcare Investment Banking at Union Bank of Switzerland and before that at Hembrecht and Quist, now a part of J.P. Morgan Chase. David spent his first 26 years on Wall Street on the research side specializing in the healthcare sector at Faulkner, Dawkins & Sullivan, Mitchell Hutchins and H & Q before moving into investment banking in 1985. Mr. MacCallum is a graduate of Brown University and Stern School of Business at New York University.


Theodore H. Ashford III President, CIO – Ashford Capital Management
Ted is the Chief Investment Officer of Ashford Capital Management, a $1.3 billion investment firm focused on small cap growth companies. Prior to joining Ashford in 1994, Ted worked for an international management company where he developed corporate services throughout Latin America and established the company base of operations in Miami, FL. Ashford Capital has a successful twenty one year history of investing in small cap growth companies and currently employs eight investment professionals. Mr. Ashford graduated from Harvard with a B.A. in History.


Richard W. Shea Jr. Principal – Vardon Capital LLC
Richard W. Shea, Jr. is currently Principal of Vardon Capital, LLC and invests in public and private companies. From 1999 to 2009 he founded and managed Vardon Capital Management, LLC, which executed a long/short equity strategy in a number of funds and separate accounts. He also spent time in analytical roles at First New York Securities, LLC, Tudor Investment Corp, Midwood Securities and Moriarty Capital Corp. He started his career in 1984 at Equitable Life Assurance Company and then moved to Merrill Lynch, in the public finance investment banking group. Mr. Shea earned a B.A. from the College of the Holy Cross in 1984 and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School in 1989.


Barry G. Haimes, CFA Managing Partner and Co-Portfolio Manager
Barry G. Haimes is the Managing Partner and Co-Portfolio Manager of the Sage Opportunity Funds. Prior to forming Sage in 1997, Mr. Haimes spent six years as a Senior Portfolio Manager at Dietche & Field Advisors, a $4.5 billion pension fund manager. Mr. Haimes spent five years in the Mergers & Acquisitions field, principally with Shearson Lehman Bros. and Prudential-Bache. Prior to his M&A experience, he was an Institutional Investor magazine ranked Machinery/Capital Goods analyst at Kidder Peabody, a buy-side analyst at Wells Fargo Investment Advisors, and in the trust department of Hubachek, Kelly, Rauch & Kirby. Mr. Haimes received an MBA from The University of Chicago in 1979 and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hamilton College in 1975.


Robert Wong CPA, JD President – McCabe Heidrich & Wong, PC
Prior to co-founding McCabe Heidrich & Wong in 1986, Robert was a Partner in the tax practice of Deloitte Haskins + Sells (now Deloitte & Touche) and before Deloitte, Mr. Wong practiced law in New Jersey. Mr. Wong's practice is centered on tax and consulting for acquisitions, partnerships and trusts and estates. Mr. Wong received his law degree from Hofstra Law School.
